Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqash May Allah bless him and grant him peace gives a very beautiful and amazing parable. He says,
Our likeness and your likeness are like a people wearing white veils, and when they walk like that; A strong wind blew and they lost their way. The road became difficult due to strong winds and strong winds, and they became confused
“The parable between us and you is like a group of people walking on a white and straight road. While they were walking along it, suddenly a strong dust wind came so they lost their direction, because the road became unclear due to the dust and wind.
Some of them said: The road is on the right; So they took it and got lost. Another said: The road goes north. So they took it, then disappeared and went astray, and there were also those who said: We were on a road where the wind was blowing, then we groaned and groaned, then the wind passed and the road became clear.
Some of them said, ‘The road goes to the right’, then they turned to the right, but instead got lost and were in trouble. There were also those who said, ‘The road goes to the left’, then they turned left, but in the end they also got lost and were in trouble. While others said, ‘We stay where we are, because we are on this road.’ So they stopped and waited until the storm passed. After the wind died down, the road was clear again.’
This is the group. They said: We will hold on to what Rasulullah SAW left us until we meet him, and we will not enter into any temptation.
Correct the latteris what is called ‘al-jama’ah’. They said, ‘We will stick to the teachings revealed by the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, until we meet him again, and we will not fall into slander’.” (This narrative is mentioned in full by Ibn al-A’rabi in his book Mu’jam-That does not. 713; also by al-Khathib in his book al-‘Uzlah, object. 72; and by Ibn ‘Asakir in Dimasyq Date, 39:496)
The attitude taken by Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqash, ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar, and a number of other companions of the Prophet when there was a dispute between Mu’awiyah and ‘Ali bin Abi Talib May Allah bless him and grant him peace resolved not by war or bloodshed among Muslims, but through effortcorrect’ or peace between both parties, caution in acting, and careful consideration in making decisions.
‘Ali bin Abi Talib May Allah bless him and grant him peace had a basis in his ijtihad, as did Mu’awiyah May Allah bless him and grant him peace. People who try sincerely to find the truth will definitely be rewarded. If his ijtihad is correct, he gets two rewards; if he is wrong, he still gets the reward of ijtihad even though he is wrong and God forgives his mistakes.
As the Prophet said sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,
If the judge makes a decision and tries and is right then he gets two rewards, and if he tries but makes a mistake then he gets a reward.
“If a judge determines a law and then carries out ijtihad and the results of his ijtihad are correct, then he gets two rewards. However, if he carries out ijtihad and is wrong, then he still gets one reward.” (HR. al-Bukhari no. 7352 and Muslim no. 1716, from ‘Amr bin al-‘Ash May Allah bless him and grant him peace)
Most friends are of the view that resolving such disputes should not be achieved through violence and war, but through peace efforts, avoiding bloodshed, as well as seeking unity among Muslims and various other steps.
The next impact and consequence of slander which is also dangerous is the destruction of unity in religion and society. Slander can cause divisions in society, weaken brotherhood among Muslims and religious relations, and foster hostility, hatred and revenge among people.
This is explained in an authentic hadith narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim from Hudzaifah bin al-Yaman May Allah bless him and grant him peace. He May Allah bless him and grant him peace said,
The companions of Rasulullah SAW asked him about the good, and I asked him about the bad for fear that he would overtake me, so I said: O Messenger of Allah! We were in ignorance and evil, and God gave us this good. Is there any bad after this good? He said: Yes, then I said: O Messenger of Allah! Is there any good after this evil? He answered: Yes, and there is smoke in it
“The companions of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam asked him about good, while I asked him about bad because I was afraid that bad would happen to me. I said, ‘O Rasulullah, before we were in a state of ignorance and bad, then Allah gave us this good. Is there still bad after this good?’ He answered, ‘Yes.’ I asked again, ‘O Messenger of Allah, is there still good after bad?’ He answered, ‘Yes, but there is still ‘dakhan’ (mist) in it.’” (HR. Al-Bukhari no. 3606 and Muslim no. 1874)
In some narrations it is stated that he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
The rest – and in one narrative: the group – on the ground, and the ceasefire in the smoke.
“There will be (a group of) people who are united on ‘stains’ (deviations) and peace that is shrouded in ‘fog’ (which is built on deviations, hypocrisy, injustice and confusion).”
In another story, he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
No human heart will ever return to its original state
“Some people’s hearts don’t return to the way they were before.” (HR. Ahmad no. 23282, Abu Dawud no. 4246, and Ibnu Hibban no. 5963. See also as-Saheehah NO. 2739, by al-Albani)
The meaning that can be taken from this hadith is that when fitnah flares up and flares up, it is able to change the condition of the human heart and has the potential to destroy the values of unity and break the bonds of brotherhood that have been built on faith.
Although God Drug has said,
Believers are only brothers, so make peace between your brothers, and fear Allah so that you may receive mercy.
“Indeed, believers are brothers. Therefore, make peace between your two brothers and fear Allah so that you may be blessed.” (QS. al-Hujurat: 10)
Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said,
Be God’s servants, brothers. A Muslim is a brother to a Muslim. He didn’t disappoint her, bully her, or belittle her. The piety here is evil enough for someone to despise his Muslim brother.
“Be brothers to the servants of Allah. A Muslim is a brother to other Muslims, don’t insult him, don’t oppress him, and don’t belittle him. Piety is here (in the heart). (HR. Muslim no. 3564, from Abu Hurairah May Allah bless him and grant him peace)
And the hadiths that discuss this matter are very numerous.
